Title Credit Analyst II

The Credit Analyst II is responsible for timely and accurately underwriting commercial loan requests, annual reviews, appraisal reviews, covenant compliance monitoring and renewals. Assists the Credit and Loan Administration Manager with ensuring the Bank’s loan portfolio maintains the highest quality standards by focusing on written evaluation of individual loan relationships. The Credit Analyst II is expected to demonstrate an understanding of proper loan structure and a strong ability to analyze financial trends.

  • Review, spread, analyze and comment on borrower’s and guarantor’s tax return, financial statements, credit, overall financial condition and related material including cash flow, sources of repayment, viability and operations as well as the Bank’s collateral position, potential risks and mitigating factors with established guidelines.
  • Prepare comprehensive credit write-ups and annual loan reviews demonstrating both a pride in ownership and the ability to produce a large volume of analysis.
  • Recommend loan risk ratings as well as ‘as-stressed’ risk ratings.
  • Assist with periodic Loan Segment/Concentration Analysis.
  • Assist with maintenance of Credit Department COPE procedures.
  • Be abreast of current economic conditions in the local communities.
  • Perform any and all other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • A minimum of three, ideally five, years of experience as a credit analyst.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or relevant experience.
  • The ability to quantify risk and identify current or potential weaknesses within the credit underwriting process on more complex underwriting.
  • Thorough knowledge of the financial services industry, banking regulations, and lending practices.
  • A strong understanding of business and personal financial statements, as well as tax returns.
  • Demonstration of the ability to identify financial trends with cause and effect.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork and customer service.
  • Strong computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets and Sageworks Analyst.
  • Commitment to the Middletown Valley Bank’s Code of Ethics and its Core Values.
  • A fundamental knowledge of loan structuring.
  • The ability to give and receive constructive criticism.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate confidence in opinions offered which result from the analysis performed.
