Our Heroes
August 21, 2018
Heroes. We’re not talking about Superman or the Incredible Hulk, instead we want to recognize the “everyday” men & women who help make up our community. These individuals devote their lives to looking after others. These are our COMMUNITY HEROES.
Police officers, firefighters and EMS personnel are the first ones at the scene of an emergency. They are available to us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. There’s no such thing as a 9-5 job in this industry. These individuals provide aid onsite and keep our communities safe with the expectation of nothing in return.
Teachers devote their lives to shaping the minds of our children often using their own money and resources along the way. Ask any teacher you know, they’re not in it for the money. They’re in it for the love of the profession.
Military Service Members whether active duty, reserve or retired are some of the most selfless individuals, risking their own lives to keep our country free. Their lives and the lives of their families can change in an instant, all for the greater good of our country and community.
Nurses. Compassionate, Understanding, Caring, Empathetic. These are just a few words to describe nurses that put others above themselves each and every day. They give everything they have caring for others all day, then often head home and give even more.
The individuals with these occupations make many sacrifices including time with family and even money. But they love what they do and we are grateful they choose to continue serving. If they’re not heroes, we don’t know who is! Florence Nightingale, founder of modern nursing once said “Were there none who were discontented with what they have, the world would never reach anything better”. Our world, more specifically THIS community is better because of our community Heroes.
